A Time-Saving Graduation Gift

When I graduated from high school several years ago, I spent hours drafting thank you cards to all the friends and family that thought of me on my big day. While I was very lucky to have so many kind loved ones, I definitely didn’t enjoy writing nearly identical messages over and over again!

This year, it’s my younger brother’s turn to graduate, and I’m surprising him with some of Cardstore’s personalized thank you cards so that he can simply add a heartfelt message, sign his name, and move on to the next one! My brother might not be the card enthusiast that I am, but once he sees his personalized cards (and realizes how much time they’re saving him), he’ll be smiling just as widely as he will be in his photo on the cards.

Saying Thanks is easy as 1, 2, 3…

This week we celebrated National Teacher’s Day, a small tribute to the tremendous men and women who dedicate themselves to educating our youth. This, among a million other reasons, is why I believe teachers deserve the highest accolades for their work. I thought it’d be a great idea to show a special teacher appreciation by sending a thoughtful note. Whether it’s one of your child’s teachers, an old college professor, or a friend who is a teacher—Cardstore.com has the perfect card for that special educator. One of my favorites is the Number Patchwork stationery. Any teacher would fall in love with the quilt patchwork numbers and the wooden background designed by Rubbergob.

Thank the Santa’s in Your Life with Style

Regardless of whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or Festivus, the holidays are a time of giving and receiving.  And while days are filled to the brim with last minute shopping, holiday parties and shuttling the family from one relative’s house to the other, it’s still no time to forget your manners.  Nothing can quite replace thank you cards for the lovely party your colleague hosted, or the exquisite bracelet with which your best friend surprised you.  So to keep the daunting task of writing thank yous to a minimum, here’s a few tips to help you stay polite during the busy holiday season:

  1. Stock Up! Make sure you have plenty of stamps and thank you cards during the holiday season so you have no excuse not to send one.snowman thanks 300x210; Thank the Santas in Your Life with Style
  2. Plan Ahead! Before attending a family gathering that you know will involve presents or a holiday party, address and stamp the thank you cards before you go so you can quickly jot a thank you card as soon as you get home.thanks brown 300x210; Thank the Santas in Your Life with Style
  3. Make it Memorable! Use Holiday Photo Thank You Cards to add a special photo to the front of the card, either of you and the gift giver or of you using/wearing the gift.blue thank you photo2 201x300; Thank the Santas in Your Life with Style

Tori Higa: From Sketch Pad to Greeting Cards

Artist Tori Higa wrote the neatest entry on one of our favorite blogs, Designing Moms, today. She gave readers a glimpse into her creative process by opening up her sketchbooks. It’s fascinating to see her lovely designs on their way to becoming stylish greeting cards.  I was thrilled to see the sketches of one of her designs featured in her Cardstore.com collection (and personally one of my favorites) highlighted in the article!

How to Write a Lovely Thank You Note

give thanks 300x300; How to Write a Lovely Thank You NoteFrom thanking the host of a dinner party to sending your thanks for birthday gifts, putting your gratitude down on paper can often feel like a daunting task. You may struggle to sound truly genuine, or find that the hardest part is just picking up a pen. To make the process a little bit easier, and the outcome more meaningful, here are three tips for a lovely thank you note:

  • Be specific: describe what you like about the gift, and how you intend to enjoy it. If you’re thanking a host, remind them of a moment that you especially enjoyed during the event. Remember: specifics are almost always interesting, but generalities almost never are.
  • Add visual thanks: make your expression truly personal by including a photo of yourself with the gift, or with the host of the event you attended. You can add up to 4 photos in Cardstore.com’s personalized thank you cards.
  • Reference the gift-giver’s connection to you: let them know how that you appreciate their presence in your life. A thank you note can also be an opportunity to connect and catch up with someone you love.

Samantha Harris sent the nicest note for the goodies her daughter Josselyn received for her 1st birthday.  The note was on one of our  thank you cards from february 13 creative personalized with Josselyn Sydney’s name.  The design is one of our favorites, and is almost as adorable as cute little Josselyn!
