Not sure what to do with a favorite card, especially a personalized card? Try this fun and easy way to turn your card into a gift box! It only takes a few minutes, and you can use items you most likely already have around the house.
Supplies Needed:
- Favorite Card
- Scissors
- Glue (or double-sided tape)
- Ruler
Got everything? Great! Let’s get started…
1. Cut the card in half along the fold.

2. Trim 1/8th inch from along the side and edge of the back of the card

3. Use your ruler to score a straight edge 1” from the edge of all four sides. See below as indicated with pencil, but you may not wish to write on your card, as it will show when the box is complete. Repeat for second half of the card.

5. Fold along the scores, as shown below.

6. Along the narrow edge of the card, make two small cuts, which will become the flaps.
7. Fold up the long edges, and apply glue (or 2-sided tape) to the flaps.

8. Repeat on both ends of the card, and for both halves of the card. Let dry, and you’ve got a perfectly personalized gift box!

We hope you had fun creating your gift boxes. Try it again and again with all of your favorite cards!

This week we celebrated National Teacher’s Day, a small tribute to the tremendous men and women who dedicate themselves to educating our youth. This, among a million other reasons, is why I believe teachers deserve the highest accolades for their work. I thought it’d be a great idea to show a special teacher appreciation by sending a thoughtful note. Whether it’s one of your child’s teachers, an old college professor, or a friend who is a teacher—Cardstore.com has the perfect card for that special educator. One of my favorites is the Number Patchwork stationery. Any teacher would fall in love with the quilt patchwork numbers and the wooden background designed by Rubbergob.

Aside from being Cinco de Mayo, May 5th is Teacher Appreciation Day! My mom’s a teacher, so I’ve seen firsthand how much work goes into educating our future leaders. So don’t forget to show those teachers some love! Whether it’s a gift certificate for a spa treatment or homemade cookies, they’re sure to appreciate gifts of all types. One of my favorite teacher gifts is personalized thank you cards customized with the teacher’s name. My mom is a primary school teacher, and she loves this old-school design from Delphine’s stationery.

Ever since my sister had her two boys, every present that comes to their house is undoubtedly for them. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my nephews, but does that mean my sister doesn’t deserve presents any more? Now that she’s back at work, I figured she needed a little pick me up so I sent her these personalized thank you cards. They are super sleek and say “From the desk of Holly”. They totally fit her modern style and are 100% her own: she is Holly, not Ben and Garrett’s mom or Josh’s wife or the mom who’s picking up carpool on Tuesday. I was amazed how her face lit up when I handed over her long deserved gift that read To: Holly.
