Finding a great Father’s Day gift is one of the most challenging things to shop for. I never know just what he wants, and I hate the idea of giving something totally useless. I’m finally realizing more and more that the simple but completely appreciated gift of relaxation, some time alone, and a lack of pressure is sometimes the best. This Hammock Lawn Dad Funny Father’s Day Card by American Greetings would give him the best motivation to take the day off. Seen next to this photo of a real hammock, it looks like there’s nothing he would enjoy more than a snooze in a hammock.

I always struggle to find holiday gifts that my parents will actually use. That’s why I often look in cooking stores to try to find some new gadget or cook book that my mom or dad will enjoy. Luckily, Williams-Sonoma is currently offering a discount of 20% off all cookware through December 12 so anyone can take advantage of this great deal and find gifts that both inexperienced cooks and talented chefs will appreciate.
Traveling during the holidays can be hectic, but it doesn’t always have to be. Remember to book flights in advance and try to take afternoon flights to avoid long lines and delays. To ensure a smooth flight, also check out some of my travel necessities I always bring along when I go home for the holidays.
- Make sure to write down everything so you don’t forget anything important before you go. Here’s a great personal organizer from Kate Spade for all of your last minute thoughts.
- Since it’s a hassle to check bags, I always try to get small gifts like these great earrings at Bloomingdales to save space.
- Another light and cute gift can be a set of personalized stationary, like these cute airplane cards from Cardstore.com.
- Look for a good travel bag that isn’t too big for carry-on and can fit under the seat by your feet (in case they run out of room in the cabin). Here are just some of the many travel bags in different colors and prints at Longchamp.
- Pack blouses that can work for both dressy and casual occasions, like this festive top from Anthropologie.
- Finally, for ear pressure, don’t forget a pack of gum, a bottle of water, and straws to drink out of to equalize the pressure.
Don’t stress about finding a hostess gift or treat for the office this year, See’s Candies has created a delicious and festive box of chocolates anyone would be thankful for.
At this time every year, I’m always scrambling to find the perfect gift for all my friends and family. It’s hard to predict exactly what they want, which is why I was thrilled when I came across myregistry.com. It’s a great site that lets you register gift ideas for yourself and share it with friends and family. We register for weddings, so why not other holidays? You can add items from anywhere on the web, from Amazon and Target to Crate and Barrel and Saks. You can even start a cash request fund to be put towards upcoming things like vacations and down payments! I already started my registry (see below) and can’t wait to get my friends and family to sign up with their gift wish-lists. This could end up being the easiest Christmas Shopping season ever!
It’s always fun to see what our artists are up to…in checking in with the lovely Angela Driscoll of Driscoll Design, I discovered that she is about to debut a line of 5 fabulous journals on her website. They would make perfect gifts for any occasion. These beauties are printed with soy ink on cream-colored 100% post-consumer recycled paper and lay flat for easy writing. Their eye-catching sparkle comes from hand-applied glitter! Containing a hefty 150 pages of lined paper, they are ripe for summer journal-ing or starting that novel you always meant to write… Beautiful and practical!
I always struggle to find my Dad the perfect gift. He’s the type of dad that only likes practical gifts, and if he needs anything, he always runs out to buy it before anyone else has a chance to get it for him. But this year, I’m getting him something he won’t buy for himself, one of our photo cards personalized with photos of the two of us. I wanted to include pictures of us from when I was a kid and from more recent events. It was so much fun looking through old pictures and finding the perfect ones to scan in. I have a feeling he’s going to love it, and the card is going to look a lot better on his desk than the books I usually give him!
Cardstore.com has dozens of Father’s Day Cards you can personalize for your own sweet dad. To allow two days for printing plus shipping, order by June 16th.
