It’s no secret that most graduation ceremonies highlight the journey that the graduate makes toward his or her graduation. A graduation is a celebration not just of that particular day, but of all the days and actions that have led the graduate to their happy day. Then and Now Graduation Cards make this journey visible with personal photos. They feature one or more photos of the graduate when he or she was younger to make it clear how far they’ve come–and share some adorable baby photos in the process! Juxtapose the graduate’s baby photo with a photo of the graduate in their cap and gown to showcase their journey and help friends and family how the graduate transitioned from baby steps to grad strides. Just  personalize with an adorable baby photo and accomplished grad photo to send nostalgic photo graduation announcements to loved ones! Friends and family will love seeing how your graduate has grown up. From Baby Steps to Grad Strides Graduation Announcement

Take your 2012 Graduation Announcements to the Next Level

Most people know the key ingredients to making the perfect high school or college graduation announcement: an eye-catching (and fridge-worthy) graduation photo, the graduate’s name, year, place of graduation, and the institute they’re graduating from. But, while graduation is often about celebrating the end of a journey, why not use your Cardstore grad announcement to share your future plans as well? Take your graduate announcements to the next level by personalizing with vital keep in touch details and information on future plans of the grad. Friends and family will love knowing how to get in contact with the graduate, and it’s a fun way to make your grad announcements stand out! Simply:

  • Make a short note of the graduate’s future plans–for example, “Annie is leaving in August to attend the University of Texas at Austin” or “Michael is moving to San Francisco in June to begin work at a tech start-up.”
  • Provide an email address or future mailing address by which to reach the graduate–“Reach him at” or “Send her some love at xyz Albatross Ave, TX 93855″

Just add these two cute details to a customized photo graduation card and bring a little something extra to your next graduation announcements!

Father’s Day is June 17, 2012 – Mark Your Calendars

Even though we just celebrated Mother’s Day, it’s never too early to start thinking about dear ol’ Dad. In fact, Father’s Day is just around the corner, Sunday, June 17th. Dads are truly one-of-a-kind, and you probably want to personalize a Father’s Day card that to make it as unique as they are. Whether you want to make them laugh with funny Father’s Day cards, share memories from throughout the years with Father’s Day photo cards, or simply let them know how much they mean to you, has all the options you need to get you started.

Now comes the tricky part, finding just the right words to let Pops know that his card was made with love. If you need a little help finding something to say on the inside of your card, you’ve come to the right place. Every relationship is different, and has its own dynamic.

  • If you and your dad are jokesters, he might appreciate recalling a hilarious memory that was shared, an inside joke, or a line from your favorite comedian.
  • There are those relationships between a father and son, or father and daughter that tend to be more sentimental in nature. In this case, there are different kinds of memories or life events to pull inspiration from. Is there a family trip that is one of your favorites? Are you in a place in life because of wise words of wisdom once imparted on you from your dad? Or do you admire something your Dad has done, big or small, and want to acknowledge him for? What father wouldn’t be touched from being thanked and high-fived for something he did. We know they don’t it for the recognition; they do it because they’re Dad!

The last and most important thing to remember when crafting the perfect card, is to speak from your heart! And if you still seem to be stumped in coming up with just the right message, sometimes a quote can express just the sentiment that was at the tip of your tongue. Here are a few to get you started.

  • Dad, you’re someone to look up to no matter how tall I’ve grown. – Unknown
  • Are we not like two volumes of one book? – Marceline Desbordes-Valmore
  • It is a wise father that knows his own child. – William Shakespeare
  • The older I get, the smarter my father seems to get. – Tim Russert

And don’t forget, you can make it an extra-personalized card by adding your very own signature, too! Our Father’s Day Shipping Cutoff is Sunday, June 10th. View our holiday shipping schedule for more information.

7 Tips to help you take great newborn photos

Want to take your own newborn photos, but don’t know where to begin? We want to help you showcase your little one in the best way possible. Here are a few tips to help you take the perfect photo of your new little bundle of joy (and keep him safe and sound in the process)!

The best way to make baby look content in your photos is by keeping him or her comfortable. Use a white noise machine to drown out background noise, and if you’re shooting him or her in the buff, turn the heat way up or use a space heater.

Have you ever had someone take your picture while you’re standing and they’re sitting? Probably not the most attractive shot! That’s because they’re shooting up your nose. The same rule applies here – make sure to shoot baby from above, it’s a much more flattering angle.

When you’re trying to catch your baby sleeping peacefully, but she just won’t stop making funny faces in her sleep, embrace it! Sometimes the best pictures come out of the moments in between the perfectly posed shots.

Mom, Dad, brothers, sisters, and even pets can get involved in the baby announcement action. Your friends and family will love to see your new addition interacting with the whole gang.

Beautiful newborn photos such as this one can often be deceiving, so it’s important to know that Photoshop plays a big part in this type of photography. This is definitely not something you want to try at home, and never work with a photographer who puts your baby at risk in any way!

Itty bitty baby fingers and toes are some of the cutest things you’ll ever see, so don’t forget to include them in your announcement!

Expect to spend about 90% of your time shushing and rocking baby, and about 10% of your time actually taking photos.

Oh, babies! How our team’s big news inspired a birth announcement frenzy at

There’s something in the water here in our offices- and we’re all pretty psyched about it! Yep, there is a whole group of us expecting babies in the months to come. And, for several of us, this will be our first child- so we’ve all really bonded over this shared rite of passage.

As the months passed, our mommy-to-be chats evolved from describing weird symptoms and indulging ice cream cravings to decorating nurseries and registering for baby showers. Those of us who are further along are now just weeks (or days!) away from our due date, and we are all so excited to meet our babies and to introduce them to the world!

Our excitement was clearly contagious, as our very talented card designers were inspired to add tons of new birth announcements to the Cardstore assortment. The timing couldn’t be more perfect, as we just launched over 130 new announcements within the same week that the first of us are due with her baby! Whether you’re expecting, know someone who is, or just love cute baby photos, you have to check these out!

But we aren’t stopping there! As mentioned, this is the first pregnancy for many of us, and really value the advice and expertise of those around us. Selecting and creating our birth announcements is no exception. Therefore, we are proud to say we’re launching an entire series of blog posts dedicated to helping you create the perfect, personalized birth announcement for your perfect new baby! So go ahead, start browsing now because we know you’re gonna love what you find. And we’ll be here to help you announce your joy to the world in a style that’s all your own!
