Now that my husband and I have a totally adorable baby girl, we’ve gained a LOT of love and baby snuggles. In turn, though, we’ve naturally lost some one-on-one time together. So, right now, it’s especially important for us to communicate our love for each other whenever, and however, possible.
He does so much for our family, and I wanted to find some ways to say I love you in small, everyday actions that I think are really meaningful. Here are some of my favorites that I’ve narrowed it down to!
1. Surprise them with a one-of-a-kind card
This photo heart collage card is awesome because you can add your own photos, and it’s like a little trip down memory lane! You can leave it under their pillow, in their lunch, or anywhere else you know they’ll come across it. (You can see more personalized love cards here.)
2. Cook their favorite meal
This may seem really small, but after a long day, there’s a lot to be said for walking through the door to your favorite meal. And if you’re the one that normally prepares the meals in your house, not having to worry about dinner really is an amazing gift (especially when it’s super-delicious)!
3. Do a chore for them
If you’re like me, you probably feel super-loved and appreciated when your significant other takes care of a chore that you normally do. How about returning the favor? If you can manage something that takes a while (like folding multiple loads of laundry), it’ll definitely save them some time, and it might even create more time for the two of you!
4. Make them a mixtape
Well maybe not a mixtape, but a CD. (Those are still a thing right?!) This is a super cute idea for your special someone. Gather up some of your favorite love songs, or just some of their favorite songs and compile them onto a CD and leave it in their car or on their computer. Actual discs might not be very popular anymore, but I think that’s what makes this even more special. I bet they’ll smile when they see it!
5. Leave a note in their phone
Set an alarm to go off at a random time on their phone and leave a nice note in the alarm title field. Think about what a nice surprise it would be in the middle of their busy day, especially if you set it to go off right before an important meeting or presentation! My husband can be very serious, and this would definitely help him relax :)
6. Give the gift of sweets
Get their favorite treat, and leave some in a spot where they’ll happily come across it during the day—maybe in their briefcase or purse, or possibly sitting in a cupboard with a sticky-note on it. I love anything with sugar (seriously, it’s a problem!), so this would go over VERY well with me!
I’d love to hear some of the ways you show your loved ones how much you love them!
