It’s always tricky coming up with a Mother’s Day present that kids can make on their own. This one, which requires only a few inexpensive supplies and some painting, is perfect!
I love that every child in the family can make a personalized one and make a sweet set of small vases for their mom.
I’m especially fond of little vases because they’re perfect for holding just a few flowers—no need to buy a giant bouquet.
And they’re the perfect receptacle for all the little weeds, er, flowers your children bring as gifts all summer long. ;)
What you’ll need:
- Glass Milk Bottles (I bought mine for $1.99 each at Michael’s)
- Glass Paint
- Paint brush
- Glue or ModPodge
Paint your bottles.
Mine took four coats to get full coverage; make sure you let it dry completely between coats or the paint will peel off. The nice thing about milk bottles is that an imperfect paint job just adds to the rustic feel!
Cut your photos out in hearts or any other shape you want.
Glue the hearts on to the vases and let dry completely.
Add some pretty flowers and you’ve got Mother’s Day covered!
