Tell us 5 quick things about yourself…
I’m the mom of an awesome 2-year-old little guy.
Yellow is my favorite color.
I like to cook AND bake.
I love mixing patterns—in designs, in my clothes, and pretty much everywhere else!
I go crazy for a good cycling class.
Oh, and I will use the word “zesty” whenever I can… (Oops! I think that makes six…)
What do you do for Cardstore?
I’m the senior line designer on our team. In addition to designing my own cards, I help with the card-making process from start to finish, and I work with Gwen & Emily to make sure we’re designing the right mix of cards in a wide range of styles.
I really enjoy cooking and consider that as an extension of my creativity. I have a great time going to different markets around town and being inspired to create new dishes for my family. Call me crazy, but there are about 5 or 6 stores in town that I shop at, just so I can gather the perfect ingredients! And it doesn’t hurt to have a husband who will eat just about anything…
I make lots of lists (it feels like I always have more ideas than time), I love to read, and I try to fit in some gym time when I can.
Where do you find inspiration?
It might sound a little cliché to say that I get inspiration everywhere, but it’s so true. An idea can hit me while I’m watching a commercial or spending time with my family. And actually, I recently did some artwork for a party invitation because of an “a-ha moment” I had while my son and I were learning our shapes!
More specifically, though, I really enjoy fashion, and I have a crazy love of interior design and textiles. Earlier in my career, I designed visual spaces and merchandised for Anthropologie, so it was like I had all those things rolled into one. But even today, I’m always inspired by unique spaces and love to find ways to incorporate pattern and home décor trends into the cards I design.
