It’s officially the holidays, and I’m willing to bet your first few rounds of Christmas cards and family newsletters have already begun to pile up.
Luckily, we have an easy Christmas card holder DIY for you, so each and every friend and family member will have their spot to shine!
What you’ll need:
- 14″ Embroidery Hoop
- Small Clothespins
- Wood Glue
- Holiday Cards
- Nail and Hammer (To Hang Wreath)
Begin by placing each clothespin about 1.5″ to 2″ apart around the rim of the embroidery hoop, alternating them facing in and out. I used three fingers to average the spacing between each pin.
Tip: You can find small clothespins of varying sizes at your local craft store or even Target. Some brands offer an assortment of colors, patterns and glitter, so explore your options! I just opted to paint mine myself, and went with a jadeite shade for a pop of color.
Next, begin gluing each clothespin down in it’s designated place. Remember to make sure the pins are alternating directions so cards can be displayed inside and outside of the hoop. (A little bit of wood glue goes a long way, so use sparingly!)
Once all your clothespins are in place, let them sit and dry for a half hour or more. The longer you wait, the better—you don’t want one popping off when you pinch it open to clasp a card.
Now you’re ready to add your Christmas cards!
Make sure all those smiling faces are visible and radiating around the hoop, and voila! You have a beautiful wreath made of all the favorite people in your life…
All you need is a hook to hang it with (or even just a hammer and nail), and you can display your Christmas cards wherever you want. And let’s face it—sometimes you need that real estate on the mantel for things like milk and cookies!
